The temperature is 113F in Anaheim right now, which appears to be an all-time high record for the city… as well as the hottest temperature ever recorded in a Disney theme park.
A Web search revealed all-time high temps in Orlando, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong all were lower than the 113 currently felt in Anaheim — without getting into whatever the highest temperatures recorded when their parks were open have been.
And as if the scorching weather were not enough, Disney Parks’ apps and websites went down today, too. That meant limited information about wait times, no mobile ordering, and limits on Fastpass at Walt Disney World and Disneyland… and no Maxpass at Disneyland.
The combination of the weather and the IT failed helped clear the park in Anaheim, so much so that the longest wait in the park by mid-afternoon appeared to be for the people queuing for Maxpass refunds. (Pause to note the irony there.)
Disneyland closed several all-outdoor attractions in the heat, including Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. But when Mission Breakout is a walk-on, the parks are pretty empty anyway.
Were you at a Disney theme park today? How did you handle the weather or the system downtimes?
